Not every church organises the same way, so the group is deliberately flexible: a home group, a ministry team, a choir, a men’s breakfast and a discipleship class are all the same shape here.

What a group has

  • A roster

    Who is in it, and who leads it.

  • Its own conversation

    A room with a roster — and an administrator can read it, which we say plainly rather than implying otherwise.

  • A picture and a description

    So a member browsing groups can tell them apart.

  • Request to join, and an approval queue

    A leader approves or declines. Groups are not open doors by default.

  • Invitations

    Invite somebody straight into a group by link.

  • Attendance

    A register per meeting, the same as an event.

Why the group is deliberately one shape

Software that ships a separate "home group", "ministry team" and "class" ends up asking every church to describe itself in somebody else’s vocabulary, and the church that does not fit gives up and uses a spreadsheet. One flexible group with a roster, a conversation and an approval queue covers all of them, and what a group is called is your church’s word rather than ours.

Can a group be private?
Membership is by approval or invitation, so a group is never something a member simply walks into.
Can group leaders manage their own group?
Yes, to the extent their role allows. Permissions are granular rather than one "leader" switch.
